Aura Medical Clinic

Dermal filler and anti-wrinkle treatment do not do the same job. Filler adds material to soft tissues to add or restore volume and define contours. Anti-wrinkle treatment with botulinum toxin temporarily reduces the activity of selected muscles to soften the appearance of dynamic wrinkles, which form or become more pronounced with facial movement.

The useful question is therefore not which treatment is better overall. It is whether the change you want to discuss involves volume and shape, lines that become more noticeable during expression, or more than one concern. A consultation helps clarify this before a treatment is chosen.

The difference at a glance

What are you comparing? Dermal filler Anti-wrinkle treatment
How it works Adds material and support to the treated area. Temporarily reduces the activity of selected muscles.
Aim Adding or restoring volume, defining contours and softening certain lines or irregularities. Softening the appearance of dynamic wrinkles associated with facial movement.
What to discuss Lip volume and contour, facial proportions, symmetry and areas of volume loss. Lines on the forehead, between the eyebrows or around the eyes, subject to assessment.
What shapes the plan Area, anatomy, product, amount and goal. Facial movement, anatomy, symmetry, areas and goal.

These are starting points for a conversation, not a way to choose a product or amount yourself. Anti-wrinkle treatment does not add volume; filler does not act on muscle activity in the same way.

When the concern is volume and contour

At Aura, hyaluronic acid filler is used for goals involving facial volume, contour and harmony. The consultation may cover lip contour, restoring volume in selected areas, symmetry or certain lines and folds.

Describe the change you want without starting from a predetermined amount. Your preferences are discussed, but the product, amount and technique are decided after assessing the area and anatomy. The fact that filler can soften certain lines does not make it the right choice for every wrinkle.

When the concern is facial movement

If lines form or become more pronounced when you move your face, the consultation can explore the role of facial expression. Anti-wrinkle treatment is used to temporarily reduce the activity of muscles associated with dynamic wrinkles.

The practitioner assesses the face at rest and in motion, along with symmetry and eyebrow and eyelid position. If the concern involves volume loss or a static line, another approach may be discussed. This does not automatically mean that filler is needed: the decision depends on individual assessment.

What else matters when deciding

For both treatments, medical history and previous procedures are part of the consultation. Report medicines, allergies and infections. For filler, also mention bleeding problems and recent medical, dental or aesthetic procedures. For anti-wrinkle treatment, discuss pregnancy or breastfeeding, neuromuscular disorders and previous swallowing or breathing difficulties. Do not change medicines without professional guidance.

Redness, swelling or bruising may occur after injections. The service pages also describe other possible reactions; ask about risks, aftercare and signs that mean you should contact the clinic. The consultation should cover more than the intended appearance.

Results and duration vary according to the product, area, anatomy and individual response. Price is explained according to the plan after consultation. Neither duration nor a general price comparison establishes which treatment fits your concern.

Five questions to ask at consultation

  1. Does my concern relate to volume, contour or expression lines?
  2. What does the assessment of my face at rest and in motion show?
  3. Why is this treatment proposed, and what is it not intended to change?
  4. What are the risks, aftercare instructions and signs that require contact?
  5. How will the result be assessed, and what does the individual quotation include?

A short checklist to save

  • ☐ I have noted the area and change I want to discuss.
  • ☐ I will explain my expectations for volume and facial expression.
  • ☐ I have a list of medicines and information about previous treatments.
  • ☐ I will ask about limitations, risks and aftercare.
  • ☐ I will understand the follow-up plan before deciding.
