Aura Medical Clinic

When a clinic offers two laser hair removal devices, it is natural to ask which one you should choose. At Aura Medical Clinic, that question is not answered by the device name alone. DEKA and Cutera are separate services, but the choice and plan follow an assessment of the treatment area, hair, skin and individual response.

Both lasers used by Aura are based on Alexandrite technology and aim for long-term hair reduction on the face or body. The clearest difference in Aura’s current planning is the usual session timing: DEKA is generally planned monthly, while Cutera is generally planned every two months. This is Aura’s current scheduling, subject to individual assessment; it is not a universal rule for every DEKA or Cutera device at every clinic.

A short comparison

What are you comparing? DEKA at Aura Cutera at Aura
Technology Alexandrite Alexandrite
Aim Long-term hair reduction on facial or body areas Long-term hair reduction on facial or body areas
Current usual timing About one session each month About one session every two months
How the plan is determined Assessment of the area, hair, skin and individual response Assessment of the area, hair, skin and individual response
How cost is determined Area, session duration and treatment plan Area, session duration and treatment plan

The table does not say that one laser is better than the other, and it cannot select the right device for you. It shows what to clarify when comparing two treatment plans.

Why the interval does not tell you the number of sessions

Hair passes through different growth phases, so treatment is planned as a course rather than as a single appointment. However, the fact that Aura generally schedules DEKA monthly and Cutera every two months does not tell you how many sessions you will need in total.

The number varies with the treatment area, hair-growth cycle, hair colour and thickness, skin and individual response. Progress is reassessed during the course. Two people using the same device should therefore not assume that they will have identical plans.

What affects laser hair removal cost?

The price of one session does not always describe the cost of the whole course. At Aura, the quotation is prepared after assessment and relates to:

  • the area or areas being treated;
  • the duration of a session;
  • the individual session plan;
  • the terms of any package, if a package is proposed.

Without these details, two prices may look comparable even though they cover different areas or plans. This article does not provide a fixed price or a predetermined session count because both depend on assessment.

How is the choice made at Aura?

The assessment considers the facial or body area, hair colour and thickness, skin phototype and condition, and recent sun exposure or tanning. You should also report recent skin changes, irritation or procedures and the medication you use.

This information helps determine the device, settings, timing and plan. You can discuss your preference for DEKA or Cutera, but the device name does not replace the assessment.

Cost and course checklist

Before comparing a quotation, ask for answers to these points:

  • ☐ Which area or areas are included?
  • ☐ Which device is proposed, and how does that relate to my assessment?
  • ☐ What interval is proposed between sessions?
  • ☐ How will progress be reassessed during the course?
  • ☐ What does the quotation include, and what, if anything, is charged separately?
  • ☐ If there is a package, what are its terms?

Five questions for your consultation

  1. What have you observed about my treatment area, hair and skin?
  2. Why are we discussing DEKA or Cutera for my case?
  3. What interval is recommended for my plan, and when will it be reassessed?
  4. Which factors affect my session count and cost?
  5. What instructions should I follow before and after each session?
