BTL Exilis: what should you ask before a consultation?
A BTL Exilis consultation should begin with the area and the change you want to discuss, not a preselected number of sessions or a promised measurement. Explain whether your concern relates to loose skin, a localised area of fat, contour or a combination of goals. The assessment is what connects that description to a suitable plan, if any.
Aura Medical Clinic associates BTL Exilis with skin tightening, localised-fat reduction and non-surgical contouring. Exilis combines radiofrequency and ultrasound to heat tissues in a controlled way. Settings, treatment time, session number and spacing are adapted after assessment. This worksheet helps you ask informed questions; it cannot confirm suitability, choose settings or predict an outcome.
A consultation worksheet at a glance
| Topic | What to prepare | Question to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Goal | The change you want to discuss: tightening, localised fat or contour. | Which part of my goal can reasonably be assessed with Exilis? |
| Area | Its location, boundaries and any recent skin or tissue change. | How will the treatment area and starting point be defined? |
| History | Pregnancy, implants, electronic devices, recent procedures and relevant conditions. | What must I disclose before a decision is made? |
| Session | Questions about controlled heating, contact, tolerance and monitoring. | How are settings adapted, and what should I report immediately? |
| Reactions | Warmth, tenderness, redness, swelling, bruising or irritation. | What may be temporary, and which change requires contact? |
| Course | Your availability for appointments and progress reviews. | How will session number and spacing be decided and reassessed? |
| Quotation | The named area, appointment time and proposed scope. | What is included, and what could change the total? |
The worksheet structures the conversation. It is not a self-assessment tool and cannot clear you for treatment.
Define the goal without turning it into a promise
Write down what you notice and what you would like the practitioner to assess. You may want to discuss laxity, localised fat or the contour of a particular area. Also note what you do not want assumed and which expectations need clarification.
Localised-fat reduction is not the same as overall weight loss. Exilis should not be presented as a substitute for losing weight, and it does not promise a specified change in kilograms or centimetres. Useful questions include:
- Which part of my concern matches the role Aura gives Exilis?
- What can be assessed in this area, and where are the limits?
- How will the starting point be documented without guaranteeing a result?
- Does another concern need a different assessment or approach?
Map the area and starting point
Ask the practitioner to name and examine the proposed area clearly. Aura’s assessment considers the area, skin and tissues, health history, recent procedures and expectations. A package name, photograph or another person’s treatment area does not define yours.
If more than one area concerns you, list each separately. Ask how the baseline will be recorded, what will be reviewed later and how changes in one area will be distinguished from general weight fluctuation. The quotation should use the same area definitions as the clinical discussion.
Prepare complete disclosure notes
Aura asks patients to report pregnancy, implants or electronic devices, infections, wounds, active irritation, problems with sensation or circulation, and recent procedures. Bring an up-to-date medicine and supplement list and mention any new health or skin change that may be relevant.
Do not use a general list to include or exclude yourself. Ask which information needs further clarification and whether another professional assessment is required first. Do not stop medicines or change prescribed care because of an online article.
Ask how a session is controlled
Exilis uses radiofrequency and ultrasound for controlled tissue heating. The area is checked and prepared, and contact, heat and tolerance are monitored while energy is applied. Settings and duration belong to the individual plan; they should not be copied from somebody else’s treatment.
Ask practical questions:
- How will the area be prepared and checked?
- What does the operator monitor throughout the application?
- How can I report unexpected heat or discomfort immediately?
- What would lead the operator to pause or adjust the session?
- What should I do if the skin changes between consultation and treatment?
Clarify reactions, aftercare and contact
Warmth or tenderness may be felt during or after a session. Temporary redness, swelling, bruising or irritation may occur. These possibilities do not predict your experience and do not make every change routine.
Request instructions for caring for the area, products or activities that need discussion, and signs that should prompt contact with Aura. Save the correct contact route and ask what cannot be assessed reliably from a photograph or message.
Understand the course and reassessment
Aura states that session number and spacing are determined individually. Ask how the initial plan was reached, when response will be reviewed and what might lead to an adjustment. An estimate is not a guarantee of the final number of appointments or outcome.
If another treatment is proposed, ask what each component is intended to do, why the sequence is being considered and whether a simpler plan was discussed. Do not assume that Exilis is routinely combined with Emtone, Icoone, pressotherapy or surgery.
Read the quotation as part of the plan
Exilis cost may depend on the area, time, number of sessions and any combination that is actually proposed. Ask for a written quotation naming the area, stating whether it covers one session or a course, and identifying inclusions and separate charges.
Do not multiply one appointment price by a guessed session count. The quotation should follow assessment and any later change should be explained against the revised plan.
Ten questions to take with you
- What exact goal are we discussing for this area?
- How is localised fat distinguished from an overall weight-loss goal?
- What does the assessment show about my skin and tissues?
- What must I disclose about health, implants, devices and recent procedures?
- Why is Exilis being considered for this area?
- How are settings adapted and monitored during the session?
- Which temporary reactions may occur, and what should I report?
- How will session number, spacing and progress be reviewed?
- If a combination is proposed, what is the purpose of each treatment?
- What does the written quotation include, and what could change it?
Checklist before deciding
- ☐ I have described the area and goal in my own words.
- ☐ I understand that localised-fat reduction is not overall weight loss.
- ☐ I have prepared relevant history, medical-device and recent-procedure information.
- ☐ I have asked how heat, contact and tolerance are monitored.
- ☐ I know which reactions or changes to report.
- ☐ I am not assuming a session count, outcome, kilograms or centimetres.
- ☐ I have a reassessment plan and written quotation.
