Aura Medical Clinic

A blepharoplasty consultation starts with your concern: excess skin on the upper eyelids, bags under the eyes or the appearance of the surrounding area. You do not need to have chosen the procedure in advance. It is more useful to explain what concerns you and what change you hope to achieve.

Blepharoplasty may focus on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or both, when a combined plan suits the case. The consultation connects your goal with the structure of your eyelids and face.

1. Describe your concern, not just the operation’s name

Before the consultation, write one or two sentences about the change you would like. For example: “The skin on my upper eyelids concerns me” or “I would like to discuss the bags under my eyes”.

Then ask:

  • Does my concern relate to the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or both areas?
  • What could the procedure aim to achieve in my case?
  • How does the plan relate to my features and facial expression?

These questions keep the conversation focused on your expectations, without assuming the same procedure is suitable for everyone.

2. Clarify what information you should share

A simple question before the appointment is: “What information about my health should I prepare for the consultation?” Also write down any questions or concerns you want to discuss with the surgeon.

This checklist is intended to help you organise the conversation. Medical preparation and pre-operative instructions are clarified separately with the team, according to your individual plan.

3. Ask how the plan is determined

At Aura, the procedure is planned according to facial structure and the patient’s goals. The choice of surgeon is discussed according to the case and budget.

To understand the plan, you can ask:

  • Why are you discussing treatment of the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or a combined plan?
  • What are realistic expectations for the change I would like?
  • What should we clarify before I make a decision?

You do not need to leave the consultation with only a procedure name. Aim to understand the reasoning behind the plan and the steps that follow.

4. Organise your questions about recovery and the quotation

Recovery time and the recovery process vary according to the treated area and the individual case. The team provides instructions for aftercare and follow-up appointments. Instead of relying on a timeframe found online, ask what you need to plan for:

  • What should I consider about returning to work and everyday activities?
  • How are follow-up appointments organised, and whom should I contact if I have a concern?
  • Which area is treated in the quotation we are discussing?
  • What is included in the price, and what, if anything, is charged separately?

The individual price relates to the areas treated, the complexity of the case and the selected surgeon. Questions about inclusions help you understand the quotation, rather than assume a particular package.

A short checklist to keep

  • ☐ I have described my concern in my own words.
  • ☐ I have written down the change I hope to achieve.
  • ☐ I have asked what information to prepare for the consultation.
  • ☐ I want to understand why the plan is proposed and what it could aim to achieve.
  • ☐ I have questions about recovery, follow-up appointments and how to make contact.
  • ☐ I want clarification of the price and what the quotation includes.
