How Kybella works
Kybella contains deoxycholic acid, a substance that destroys fat cells in the area where it is injected. The body gradually clears the treated cells. Kybella is not a weight-loss method and does not replace liposuction when the amount of fat is large.
Who it may suit
People with localised fat under the chin that does not go away with healthy eating and physical activity, and whose skin still has good elasticity. When the main concern is loose skin or the amount of fat is large, the doctor may discuss alternatives such as liposuction.
How the treatment is carried out
At the consultation, the area, the skin and your medical history are assessed. On the day of treatment, the area is cleaned and marked, then the product is injected with very fine needles at several points. Usually 1 to 3 sessions are needed, at an interval set by the doctor.
Who performs the treatment
Kybella treatment at Aura is performed by Dr. Denada Sherja, a doctor and surgeon trained in aesthetic surgery. More about the team: Our team.
Safety and aftercare
Before treatment, tell the doctor about any medicines, allergies, infection in the area, pregnancy or breastfeeding, difficulty swallowing, and previous procedures on the neck or face. After treatment, swelling, redness, numbness, a burning sensation or bruising in the area are common and last a few days. The doctor explains the possible risks and the aftercare instructions.
Results
The change appears gradually over the weeks after each session. Treated fat cells do not come back, but changes in weight can affect how the area looks.
Price
The price depends on the area, the amount of product and the number of sessions. Aura prepares an individual quote after the consultation.
