Arm lift in Tirana

An arm lift, also called brachioplasty, is surgery that removes and repositions excess skin on the upper arms. It may be considered when skin remains loose after weight change, changes over time or cannot be improved as desired with exercise or non-surgical treatments.

The operation does not have one standard extent. For some people, the concern is close to the armpit; for others, excess skin continues farther towards the elbow. The surgeon defines the area, the amount of tissue that may be treated and the location of incisions after assessing the anatomy, skin and individual goal.

What an arm lift may address

The operation is intended to address excess skin and upper-arm contour. In some cases, localised fat may form part of the plan, but fat removal does not necessarily replace skin removal when laxity is the main concern.

An arm lift is not a weight-loss treatment and does not build muscle. Exercise may strengthen the muscles but cannot remove excess skin. Surgery, meanwhile, cannot guarantee a particular arm shape, perfect symmetry or removal of every skin irregularity. The consultation should identify which component may be treated and what sits outside the proposed scope.

Surgical scars and incision extent

An arm lift leaves visible scars. With a limited plan, the incision may sit close to the armpit. When excess skin extends along the arm, a longer incision towards the elbow may be required. Depending on the case, its position may be planned along the inner or back part of the arm, but no placement makes the scar invisible.

Incision length is connected to the amount and distribution of skin being treated. A shorter scar may not provide the required access, while a broader correction produces a longer scar. Scars change over time but do not disappear. Ask the surgeon to show the proposed position and discuss openly the trade-off between the contour change under consideration and the scar needed to achieve it.

Who may consider an assessment

Assessment may be appropriate for someone with reasonably stable weight, excess upper-arm skin, realistic expectations and health compatible with surgery. The consultation covers weight change, previous operations, skin quality, medicines, allergies, smoking, chronic conditions and practical support during recovery.

If further substantial weight change is expected or factors may affect wound healing, the surgeon may advise delaying surgery or considering an alternative. Suitability cannot be confirmed from photographs or messages; it requires an individual assessment.

Aura’s care process

Aura Medical Clinic works with several experienced Albanian and Italian surgeons. The proposed surgeon and plan are discussed with the patient according to the case, goals and budget. The process includes the initial enquiry, consultation, preoperative preparation, surgery, postoperative monitoring and reviews until the team confirms that the patient may go home.

The operation takes place at Aura’s premises in its new operating theatre, which is equipped with modern technology. Technique, anaesthesia, duration, arrangements for help at home and any combination with another procedure are individual decisions and are not set by this page.

Recovery and aftercare

Swelling, bruising, discomfort, tightness or temporary altered sensation may occur after surgery. Arm movement places tension on the treated area, so instructions about raising the arms, lifting loads, work, sleeping position, wound care and supportive garments when recommended need to be followed carefully.

There is no standard date for returning to work, exercise, driving or travel. It depends on incision extent, the person’s activities and actual healing. The team arranges reviews and explains which changes should be reported.

Risks, limitations and results

Possible complications include bleeding, infection, fluid collection, wound separation or delayed healing, altered sensation, asymmetry, thick or conspicuous scars, blood clots, tissue damage or the need for revision surgery. The surgeon explains individual risks, precautions and alternatives before consent.

The result becomes clearer as swelling decreases and tissues heal. The aim is to improve contour, but scar appearance, symmetry and a particular measurement cannot be guaranteed. Later weight change and ageing may affect the contour. A plan should be judged by both the intended improvement and the permanent scar it involves.

Arm lift pricing

The price depends on the area and extent of excess skin, plan complexity, selected surgeon, anaesthesia, materials and included care. A quotation is prepared after consultation and should reflect the planned treatment length and every element that has been explained.

Frequently asked questions

Can exercise remove excess upper-arm skin?

Exercise can strengthen muscle but cannot remove excess skin. The surgeon assesses whether the concern relates to skin, fat, muscle or a combination.

How long will the scar be?

It depends on the amount and distribution of excess skin. It may be limited near the armpit or continue towards the elbow.

Will the scar disappear?

No. A scar may soften and mature over time, but it remains. Healing and visibility differ between people.

Can an arm lift be combined with other body surgery?

Only when assessment shows that a combination is appropriate. Safety, extent and recovery must be discussed for the actual proposed plan.
